Trees for Trees

LA MAISON is excited to support The Trees 4 Trees project, where local Indonesian communities are now being re-educated on sustainable farming practices. For every sale from the LA MAISON wood furniture collection a donation made to this fantastic non-profit initiative, empowering local communities and protecting the environment for future generations.

Donations from the sales are supporting local Indonesian communities to re-plant trees in the area where they were originally sourced.

“Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach him how to fish and he will eat for life…”

This old proverb goes to the heart of what Trees4Trees is all about and Community Forestry is the way we achieve it.

The Tree 4 Trees foundation is a Not for Profit foundation and was established by responsible furniture manufacturers and their customers worldwide to empower local communities through reforestation initiatives. The foundation distributes free seedlings of high value species including teak, mahogany, mango and other local timbers to local farmers and resident land owners. The program provides technical guidance on planting and best forestry practices in addition to long term monitoring and market assistance to help the tree growers maximise value.

Community based forestry is acknowledged as one of the key strategies in promoting sustainable forest management and in reducing poverty in rural areas particularly in developing countries. When forestry is implemented in partnership with communities it can raise standards of living and contribute to positive development.
